Meri Pigadi is a group of small coves on the eastern side of the Gramvousa Peninsula, beyond Kaliviani. It offers a different coastal experience from Balos, with pebble pockets and deeper water.
Beach Setting & Facilities
Fine pebbles, clear water and small rocky divisions shape the bays. There are no dependable organised services at the shore, and shade is limited.
Plan a self-sufficient visit. Bring drinking water, food and sun protection, and take everything away with you. Do not expect toilets, showers, rental equipment or lifeguard cover to be available.
Things to Do at Meri Pigadi Beach
Plan a simple swimming stop in suitable conditions and enjoy the views across the bay. It is a destination in its own right rather than a guaranteed effortless add-on to Balos.
How to Get There
The coves are reached from the early part of the rough road towards Balos. Confirm driving permission and the condition of both the track and the final descent before setting out.
Is It Suitable for Families?
Consider both the beach and the final approach. A rough road or hot walk can matter more than the swimming conditions for families with young children. Carry water, keep the equipment light and make sure the return is manageable for everyone.
Where to Stay
Kissamos is a convenient base for a mix of town services and western beach outings. Kaliviani and the surrounding villages suit a quieter stay, while the Rodopos side requires a different access plan. Compare actual driving or boat arrangements before choosing accommodation solely for its apparent proximity to the coast.
Practical Tip
Take water before leaving Kaliviani. Do not continue along cliff edges in search of an easier entrance when a cove is difficult to reach.
